Description
Alton is a resident of Toccoa, Georgia, and as of 2024, has been married for 55 years to Emily Vardaman, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia. Emily was formerly a teacher of Language Arts at Stephens County High School in Toccoa. They have two sons. Their older son, Mark, is a graduate of Mercer University, and is married to Lisa House. They have a son, Samuel Adams. Alton and Emily’s second son is Andy, a graduate of the University of Georgia and Georgia State Law School. Andy is married to Morgan Culpepper, and he practices law in Athens, Georgia.
Alton was admitted to Practice before the Supreme Court of Georgia, The Georgia Court of Appeals, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and has been a member of the Georgia Bar Association, the Mountain Circuit Bar Association, and the Stephens County Bar Association.
He is a member and former Trustee of First Baptist Church of Toccoa, Past President of the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce, and has served as Director, Vice-President, and Building Committee Chairman of the Currahee Arts Council. He served for Alton M. Adams about ten years as Building Committee Chairman in connection with renovations to the Ritz Theater.
