Faith Davis, a young Southern girl and courageous survivor of the Civil War’s devastation to her family, vows to keep her pledge of marriage to Jonathan Blackwell, a compassionate officer of the Union Army. Though Faith has never met him, he is the author of the stack of letters neatly stowed in the filigreed letter box rarely allowed out of her sight. In the war torn and lawless foothills of the Appalachians, their quest to find each other is fraught with difficulties and shocking surprises.
