Description

Brad Quinlin, noted Historian & Genealogist, is Author of “Duty Well Performed: The Twenty-first Ohio Infantry in the Civil War”, “Borne in Battle: Regimental Book and Eyewitness Accounts of the 123rd New York Volunteer Infantry”. His latest book is “For My Grandchildren, the Civil War Journey of Pierre Starr, Surgeon of the 39th Ohio”. Brad has authored multiple other books and is currently working on the new United States Colored Troop exhibit for the Atlanta History Center/Cyclorama. Through in-depth research he has identified over 365 US and CSA soldiers buried in graves marked as unknown; was Historical Advisor and Lead Researcher for the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Visitors Center movie, “Kennesaw: One Last Mountain” & the PBS 5-part Mini-Series “Civil War: The Untold Story”.

For Dick Ransom, “Our Brethren are on the Field” is his second publication. For twenty-eight years his avocation has been the study and living history portrayal of the American Civil War. Upon retiring from business ownership, Dick partnered with his longtime friend, Brad, for their first book. Using Brad’s research on original soldiers’ letters and diaries, Dick transcribed those letters and diaries while writing an original narrative that told the complete story of Vicksburg. The combination of the narrative and the soldiers’ writings created a compelling story that brings history to life. The result was “Remember Me to All” published in 2017. In his review of that book for the Civil War Times, Robert L. Durham said: “Many letter collections have been published over the years, but this volume is in a class of its own.”

“Our Brethren Are on the Field” employs the same approach and format to tell the compelling story of Chattanooga’s role and the struggle to control it in the Civil War.
