5A Goes to Overlook Park

For the first time that day, Dietz smiled and patted Pic on the back. “I’m sorry I ever doubted you.”

The four men exited the jewelry store through the rear entrance and walked toward their van. Danny hurried over to the driver’s-side door and discovered that the door was locked. “We have a problem. I must have locked the doors by accident.”

Dietz screamed in frustration and smashed the passenger-door window. That immediately set off the car alarm.

The members of the JSV quickly entered their van, grabbed the canvas bag filled with the jewelry they stole, and slowly drove to the end of the alley.

The engine of their vehicle bucked once and then a second time before slowly rolling down the gentle decline to the bottom of the hill.

“What else could go wrong?” asked the dejected Dietz.

“Guys,” said Pic, “where’s the briefcase with the diamonds?”
