This book describes the author’s life journey.
Description
This book describes the author’s life journey. As a youth, the author suffered from psychological and emotional conflicts. According to his parents, he led an aimless life with no goals and little engagement with what they considered essential, such as school. His father once predicted that David would be in prison by the time he was twenty-three. The family physician at this time described him as “independent” and “stubborn.” His high school principal said that he was a capable adolescent who refused to apply himself or benefit from guidance. His senior English teacher told him that she had given him a passing grade (D) so he could graduate, but he would never be admitted to a college.
When the author was 17, he was involved in a life-threatening accident. Following this accident, while looking at photos of how he appeared in his senior picture and how he appeared after punching a hole in a windshield with his face, he had an epiphany. This epiphany was a transformative experience. David’s life shifted in a totally new direction. This shift eventually led him back to school. Instead of being in prison at age 23, he was a college freshman. He completed his formal education with a PhD. He pursued a
career in academia, first as a professor and later as Chair of a large department in an urban research university. His journey, shared with his wife of 58 years, continues toward eventual culmination.
